Pan-Ya

A Japanese bakery house, with few creations seen no where else.
Madeleine

Sweet, crispy and buttery madeleine.

Gion Rp 100.000/ US$12
(shown in photo is half of the loaf)

Gion, white bread made with best quality buttermilk is claimed by the shopkeeper as pan-ya's signature bread. It's only available at senayan city branch, and probably a few other branches.. It doesn't taste that strong, but the texture of the bread is really soft, and it can be just eaten plainly and still taste nice.

Red Bean Bread

This uniquely shaped bread is so full of red bean paste. The outer bread layer is so thin that it gives you a nice feeling when you bite directly into the sweet bean paste.

Bakmi GM

Standing since the 19th century, Bakmi GM has always been known for its speciality fried wontons, noodles, and other Indonesian as well as Chinese Foods.

Fried Rice (Rp23.000/US$2.5)

The fried rice is in large portion, but you can manage to finish it if came here hungry. They are generous in the meat and prawns.

Fried Wontons (Rp10.000/US$1.1)

The wontons here are really yummy, it is crispy because the flour batter is mixed with butter. The meat inside is also mostly chicken meat instead of more flour and less meat. The sweet and sour dipping sauce makes a perfect companion.

Ice Lemon Tea (Rp7.000/US$0.8)

The Lime Tea here is so refreshing. I bet it's freshly made instead of from sachets.

Comebuy

A drink stall specializing in bubble tea from Taiwan.

Mango Smoothies Rp21.000 (US$2.3)

The mango smoothies is so cold  I had a brainfreeze. It was really loaded with ice, but you would be able to find a lot of liquid as well. It is really sweet and refreshing.

I ever had bubble milk tea here before, and it was also nice, but the flavor is not that strong as what I expected.

The drinks here came in large sizes, but you can have regular size with a cut off in price (Rp 3.000/ US$0.4). The toppings here are more or less the same like it is in any other bubble tea store-- grass jelly, bubble, etc.. I was quite disappointed because my favorite topping, egg pudding was sold out last time I went there.

Mr. Puff

Polo Puff with Vanilla Cream Rp 8.500 (US$0.9)

After considering for a moment, I chose the puff with the usual cream and not ice-cream, as those in the etalase looks better than those in the small fridge. I chose Polo puff instead of the plain one, because the shopkeeper told me that polo is sweeter, but still it was not that sweet anyway. The cream was not that sweet neither. As this dessert is not that sweet, you can have more than one at a time.

It's available in ice cream puffs at the same price, and with more flavors to choose from too.

Pan n Barell

This modern style restaurant in PIK, Jakarta served mainly western foods. It has a very comfortable interior with some sofas. Really made a nice place to hang out.
Chocolate Waffle

The waffle is small in portion, but it's a good thing so that you don't get bored eating the whole thing up.

Hong Kong Street Snacks

If you happened to wander around the crowded night market of Hong Kong, why not try the snacks there. Hong Kong foods are savory or flavorful I would say, but it's really worth the try. I tried Fried Kuo Tie (Gyoza), and although the presentation of the food is not that gorgeous, the taste really suits me. It's got lots of garlic and chopped chives.

Fried Kuo Tie-- Pork with chives deep fried in dumpling wrappings

Kit Kat

Kit Kat Mont Blanc

Never seen this in my hometown or any other places before. Got this from a supermarket in Singapore. The Kit Kats inside is like just two-third the size of a usual Kit Kat. What an elegant dessert I would say..

Bread Talk

Bread Talk is a famous bakery, opened since early 2000. It now has branches in some countries in southeast Asia. Personally, I think the bread here are nice, but not really that outstanding. But anyway, whenever I step my foot into this bakery, it would always have something to fascinate me.

Chocolate Chip Muffin

The muffin is generously drizzled with chocolate chips, but only on the top though. It's kind of hard to eat because the bread keeps on sticking on the paper wrappings when I tore it off. It's mildly sweet.

California something bread

This bread has got raisins, and sprinkled generously with caster sugar. The bread dough is very fluffy and soft, and airy.

Ah Mei Cafe

Ah Mei Cafe is another modern Kopitiam styled restaurant in Emporium Pluit Mall, Jakarta. It offers a various kopitiam style cuisine, including roti prata, toasts, fried mee, and so forth. The restaurant is kind of cramped though, but it was still cosy.

Coin Prata

Mini pratas! Never seen this stuff elsewhere before. It's really cute even though it taste more doughy than the usual prata. Served with kaya jam.

Sandwich

I am yearning to try the Roti John here, since I never tried Roti John before. But unfortunately, it always run out stock the two times I visited this small restaurant.

Macaroons @ Bawean, Bandung

Bawean is a contemporary patisserie house in Bandung, Indonesia. It offers a wide variety of modern cookies and cakes, some of which cannot be found elsewhere.

Assorted Macaroons @Rp7.000/US$0.80

The macaroons here are just as nice as found elsewhere though, but I am indeed really excited to find the lychee flavored macaroon (the white one with the pink powder).

Beatrice Quarter

Beatrice Quarter is a western restaurant with a country styled interior. It's got a nice terrace which is beautifully styled in country style too. The table is so beautifully decorated with lots of pictures. The menu book is just another thing to turn your country mode on.

 Oreo Blast Honey Toast

The vla custard is just so and so. The vanilla ice cream is not that generous though. The toasts inside is flavorful, but the outside covering is not flavored at all, so it's just white bread skin. This dessert look really nice, but I would recommend this only if you are coming in a group of 4 or more.

Callista Garden PIK

A very elegantly decorated resto, serving western foods. The interior which is a fusion of country and modern style, is dominated with green and white. The foods here are not really outstanding though, but is very nicely served.

Ice Lemon Tea

The lemon tea is rather sweet than sour, but it's good because I like sweets.
Salad

The salad is rather bland because the dressing is very light, with no mayonnaise at all. So i bet it's good for those having diet. The light vinaigrette is sour and has the flavor of herbs. The chicken piesec are not generous though.

Pizza with Pepperoni

The pizza dough is very floury. The dough is not that crispy, and the taste is not as what I expected. But it's not that bad if you want to give it a go.

Chatime

I was really excited to finally be able to find this store when I hang out the other time. I heard a lot about the store before, and everybody claims that the milk tea here are really engaging.

So my choice fell to the Roasted Milk Tea, which I could easily find on the topmost of the menu sheet. I chose egg pudding as the topping.

(Rp 23.000/US$2.5)

The roasted milk tea is just awesome. The roasted flavor is just adequately strong, and the beverage has a thick flavor, compared to the other milk tea I ever tried before. The egg pudding is sweet and has a nice texture, I think.

Bobabits PIK

Bobabits is a restaurant near my neighborhood, selling -the now trending- bubble tea and fried foods. It has a various choices for the tea itself- milk tea, chocolate tea, some fruit teas, etc. For the food, there are fried chicken cutlets, fried mushrooms, fried sweet potatoes... The interior of the medium scaled restaurant is youthful and lively, dominated with green color.

Menu

Chocolate Hazelnut Bubble tea (Rp. 23000/ US$2.5)
The chocolate hazelnut tea is not as nice as I expected, and it has no flavor of hazelnut at all. I chose small boba, and it was like half the size of the usual boba found elsewhere. Some of the people claimed that this resto has got the best bubble tea in town, so I was guessing that I ordered the wrong thing, as my beverage was rather bland.

Milk Bubble Tea (Rp 23.000/US$2.5)
Fried Chicken ( Rp 28.000/US$3)

The fried chicken is really fantastic, even though the outside is rather dry, the chicken inside was still kind of juicy and succulent. The spices really made up a good flavor.
Fried Champs ( Rp23.000/US$2.5)

The fried champs was not as fancifully flavored as the chicken, but it was generous in amount and not that bad at all.

Milk Teaa

 @ Rp 21.000/ US$ 2.2

When I paid another visit to Bobabits, I ordered Oolong Milk Tea. And no, I don't finish the whole crate all by myself. Those are my brother's, cousins', etc... Most of us complained that the milk tea are rather flavourless, except for my brother. So I guess that some of us had just ordered the wrong thing. I would definitely go for coffee on my next visit, as the milk tea does not suit my taste at all-- it's not that strong in flavour, and it's got some sort of weird taste I can't explain.

But, Bobabits is really a nice place to chill out. The indoor is cozy while the outdoor section is really windy and has a fun concept with its paperbag chairs.

Sushi Tei

A very famous Sushi restaurant in Indonesia or the past few years. Even though some of the dishes are just usual, most of them are amazingly engaging you can't stop nibbling. For me personally, I am not really fascinated by the sushi served here, and preferred the other various stuffs in the menu.

some fried stuff, Maki sushi roll, and sushi

Tobiko Sushi

The fried stuff we ordered as appetizer are really nice. The fried salmon skin is crispy and savoury, and has a really tasty texture. The fried squid at the other hand is chewy, and slightly sweet. I would really really recommend everyone to try these.

Vivo City Snack Time

If you happened to be in Vivo City Singapore, why not refill your stomach with the various snacks located on the ground floor. There are peking duck, some fried stuffs, gelato, puffs, pies, cakes, and so on and so forth.. I tried the peking duck there and for me it just tastes as nice as those sold in the big Chinese restaurants, but with the duck meat.
Peking Duck S$6 (US$4.50)

Really love the wrappings. The duck inside is quite crunchy with some skin still on. The sauce is sweet and generous. The cucumber is juicy and fresh. I can eat boxes of these everyday.

BBQ Pork-same price with the duck

The pork has a crunchy outer layer and a meaty and juicy inner layer. NYUM!

Fruit Paradise Cafe-Singapore

This epic yet elegant cafe is located in one of the most crowded malls in Singapore, Vivo City. I was surprised by how artsy the cafe was decorated in. The cakes, or Giant Fruit Tarts I should say, are beautifully arranged in an etalase besides the entrance. When I stare at those Tarts, I got that feeling like 'I wanna try every single one of it'. But , those are a little bit pricey though.

This place is perfect for hanging out with friends as well as evening tea with family. The servants are so friendly!

The Tarts on the Etalase

Gorgeous Fake Tarts as Decor

The Brochure Menu

                                                     Mango Pie (S$7.80/US$6)
Mango tart pie, look at the enormous layer of fresh cream with generous chunks of peaches, I fantasized myself immersed in eating it while I was on the counter. The lower pastry is crunchy and buttery. The fruits in it are so sweet.

Seasonal Fruit Pie (S$7.80/US$6)

For me personally, this is the best pie among the other I ever tasted. It has a cheesy thick cream layer, which makes up a good flavor and blended well with the fruits on top. Amazingly, I could find plums, pomelos, blackberries and others on top. The dragon fruits are really sweet.

Mixed Fruit Pie (S$7.80/US$6)

Mixed Fruit Pie is thicker than seasonal fruit pie, but the cream is not cheesy. It's sort of vanilla flavored whipped cream. So, if you eat this after eating seasonal fruit pie, it would be rather bland.

Mocha Frappie (Rp38.ooo/US$4)

So it was on one hot afternoon when we decided to chill out after lunch. After quite a moment of considering what to order, my decision fell to this mocha frappie. Mixture of chocolate and coffee. Nice one, as I could easily be affected with the caffeine in coffees. The blended ice is mixture of normal ice and some coffee ice I guess, as it was sweet and has got the flavor of coffee. The beverage below the blended ice is so thick and the taste of the mocha still lingered on my mouth after I finished drinking it.

Smokey Ribs

Smokey Ribs is located at Pantai Indah Kapuk, just a few minutes drive from Waterbom PIK. It is a western restaurant offering one of the best ribs in the area. I'm not a huge fan of ribs though, but I could say that the ribs here are very flavorful and worth to try. It offers two types of ribs- pork ribs and beef ribs. Pork rib has more fats and the texture is softer than beef ribs. And it has got more meats too. Other than ribs, a lot more western delicacies are available there.

Cream Soup

I love cream soup! And this one adds up to the list of my favorite cream soups.

Fried calamari rings

The portion of the calamari rings might not be the most generous in town, but that's what makes a good appetizer, right?

Potato skin

NICE! The bite-size potato skins are totally covered up with cheddar cheese and sprinkled with some dried bacon pieces. The sour cream kind of match up with the potato skin, but if you don't like sour cream it would give a really weird taste.

Beef ribs

The beef ribs is served with one choice of side dish plus coleslaw. The sauce comes in a few choices as usual- BBQ, mushroom, etc. I could tell that the beef ribs has been well marinated before it was being grilled. The flavor is so GREAT!

Tenderloin Steak

The tenderloin steak is juicy (well it depends on how it was cooked, and this one is medium) and lightly flavored to give out the real taste of the beef. Like the ribs, it was served with a choice of sauce and side dish along with cooked vegetables.

Fish and Chips with tar tar sauce

The fish is not really special, it was just like any other fish and chips you could find in any other restaurants. Not that it was not nice, it's really nice indeed. The crunch and the fish is well cooked inside. But if you are visiting Smokey Ribs, I would reccomend you to pick the grill fish.

Pink Panther

This beverage comes in a pitcher, so the taste wasn't that thick. It's soda with some strawberry syrup I think, but it really goes well with the foods.
